Fancy Restaurant...and sorbet

A few glimpses of Elizabeth in all her glory.

Here she is at The Pelican Hill resort. Yeah, the little darling had it in her head that she was going to go to a "fancy restaurant" that night to show off her new dress. Daddy wasn't up for it that night (did the ball game have anything to do with it?) Anyway she hounded me so much that I finally decided it was easier to take her--besides she looked so stinkin' cute. So at the last minute, we drove down the street to Pelican Hill and had a lovely dinner --besides kids eat free so it turned out to be a bargain to boot. How bad is the economy when five star restaurants have to offer free meals to kids to bring in the customers?

Oh ,and Eliz was pretty funny in her negotiations to go. I told her Daddy didn't want to go and he would would be sad if we went without him. She said in her still somewhat cryptic way, "oh no, just us girls go, daddy stay home and rest, we come home and daddy is happy--let's go".

And here she is at her favorite sorbet spot, Gelato Paradiso where she ordered a "small" strawberry sorbet cone. She does a pretty good job of polishing it off too. And she does a good job of keeping me on my diet. When she was clearly finished but still had a fair amount of sorbet left I said, I said, "oh, I'll have a little." she pulled the cone away from me and I almost got into a full body wrestle with her for it. When I realized the guy behind the counter was watching this little scuffle, I let go and she promptly dumped the cone in the trash. Not sure if that little act is evidence of a a little mean streak (haven't really seen much of that) or her kindly way of keeping me on program. I prefer to think the latter.

The Pink Car

A week or so ago we headed to Mission Viejo mall with Elizabeth and her buddy Kaila and they had a lot of fun playing in the pink Volkswagen. Elizabeth is very clear that this IS the car she wants. Luckily we have about 14 years before we have to even consider that purchase!!!

As another sign of the economic times, here are Elizabeth and Kaila playing "car" in an empty spot of the now closed Saks Fifth Avenue.

Elizabeth and Kaila

Here they are in their matching dresses, these two bosom buddies. These two have such a fun time when they get together.

It was so cute yesterday, Elizabeth was chanting, "I don't want to go home!" when we had to leave. It doesn't seem like much of a statement to most parents of an amost 4 year old, but considering how she wasn't saying much of anything a year ago, it's music to my ears whenever she says anything.

You also see them at Whole Foods market "sharing" the kiddie grocery cart. These two play so well together and always manage to work out an equitable share of the "goods" when they have to.

Dancing at School

Here are some photos of Elizabeth in her dancing class at school. She is in the front of the line with the gorgeous pink tutu....thanks Auntie Holly. She is the star of the show in that tutu!

Oh and it is the cutest thing. Ever since Holly, Becky and Zach came to visit us, Elizabeth has decided that she is Becky, I am Holly and Marty is Zachary. (Yeah, we will have to see Bruce soon so Marty can have an age appropriate alter ego!--not to mention it has been too long since seeing Bruce!). When she wakes up in the morning and calls for me, she doesn't say, "mommy or mom" nope. She calls "Holly!!!!". She has even been introducing herself to people as Becky and yells at me when I call Marty "Marty". She corrects me and says, "no, he is ZACH!".

Snow White Meets Toy Story

Okay, so the cat is out of the bag. You now know what Elizabeth is going to be for Halloween--and every day between now and then. Since getting her costume she has worn it all day and even sleeps with it displayed on a chair in her room--positioned in such a way that she can be sure to see it when she awakens.

Snow White meets Toy Story

So...Elizabeth decided that Marty would be "Woody" from Toy Story this Halloween, so here she is with Marty who is donning "official" Woody hat.
