Happy Chinese New Year at Norma's

So here we are at Norma's house a couple of weeks ago celebrating Chinese New Year.

Gotta love all these adorable girls in their Chinese outfits!

Nice smile...

So this is a picture about which Marty said, "cute smile, too bad she is holding a pig.". Isn't that just like life...you get a great picture of yourself and there you are holding a pig. Well, what the heck--I figured I'd post it anyway--besides aren't pigs supposed to be lucky? And it is a pretty cute little pig, as pigs go.

A couple of photos with mommy. Just the other day I reminded Elizabeth that she used to call me "mama". She got such a kick out of that and has been having fun with the "mama" term over the last week. She will just be sitting there coloring and then look up and say, "mama" and then look at me and laugh. I guess like most kids (and heck even adults) she loves hearing about what she used to do when she was "young".

We are over at the Pelican Hill resort, one of her favorite restaurants, "of course."

Not sure if I mentioned this story but a while back when I was picking Elizabeth up from school to go to one of her speech therapy appointments Elizabeth was sitting with one of her friends when I showed up. She said, "bye bye" to the little girl who then asked, "where are you going?" Elizabeth replied, "oh, I have to go to a fancy restaurant." That's my girl!

Birthday celebration at school

So I am about a month behind in posting...well, as you know "life comes at you fast". In fact there are so many vignettes, moments, photos, quips, etc that never make it on to the blog --oh had I but world enough and time. I do hope that I can spend a little time with some more updates, narratives and photos to really do justice to the Journey with Elizabeth.

Here are some photos from her birthday party at school. They do this "Earth goes around the moon" song and the kids walk around the room holding the globe in their hand. Her hat was made way to big for her--as you can see from the photos. Thanks teach!

Oh and then the kiddies had cupcakes. Remind me next year not to drive all over creation trying to find the "perfect" cupcakes for the kids so that they could have something different. Half of the kids either didn't eat them or took one bite out of them and threw them in the garbage-_Elizabeth included.

Here she is with her birthday present from over a year ago...Thanks Aunts La La and Re! This guitar plays "Girls just want to have fun". It seems so hip to me, but I also realize that song is what...20 years old or more. Hey, she likes it.

And with a few of her Princess dolls. Yes, I did say "a few". And yes, there are more. Photos to follow.

The Party lives on...

As you know I am woefully behind in posting...

Here is Elizabeth with Auntie Laura who once again pulled out all the stops in her help with making Elizabeth's birthday party a resounding success. What she doesn't know is that next year Elizabeth is expecting even bigger and better things, aka--more balloons! The good news this year was that we were smart enough to "order out" for the balloons.
This photos shows the duo having a much deserved and relaxing lunch at The Bay Club...the day after the shindig.

And here is the "Castle Cake" that Elizabeth insisted on. Although she didn't demand that it feed 50 people. I suppose that both Laura and I are guilty of over reaching on the size. But, let's face it--a castle just CAN'T be tiny!
Elizabeth loved it and hopefully this photo will let it stand as an enduring memory!

Oh and we did get some good use out of those balloons after the party. They decorated the house for days...actually weeks. We still have a few shopping bags filled with these special helium balloons. Elizabeth carries them around the house and uses them for some purposes I think having to with purposes of which I am not sure.

The Birthday Week

So I am woefully behind in posting both pictures and goings on of Elizabeth and Co.
Her birthday week was very busy and started on her actual birthday with lunch at one of her favorite haunts, the Balboa Bay Club. She had lunch with grandma and grandpa.

More to follow...

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year!
