Move over Martina....
Last week Elizabeth had her first tennis lesson. Oh yeah, she is getting ready for the U.S. Open 2025! We are working on her hand eye coordination so tennis seems a pretty good way to develop that. Of course my hand eye coordination is so bad that I am the one that should be taking lessons. So far she loves it.
Oh yeah, the girl has a pretty busy extra curricular activity schedule, Are you ready?
Let's see, besides her preschool classes from 9-1 everyday, she has Phonics tutoring every Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday she sees Miss Kim for speech and language, Wednesday she has tennis, Saturday is dancing class. You think that is too much for a four year old. Well, according to Elizabeth, she is not doing enough. She wants swim lessons and violin lessons. She is pretty intent on the violin lessons--she even declared that once her piggy bank is full she is going to buy a violin.
Actually her schedule is not that unusual for a four year old these days. Some of her friends have even busier schedules. And a number of her buddies from China are taking some pretty intense Chinese classes. We have been holding off on that since Elizabeth started speech so much later owing to her hearing so we are making sure that she has English totally under her belt before we launch her into Chinese. Besides that I want to learn alongside her and I don't think I am ready for that yet! Marty thinks I am crazy and claims no one can learn Chinese unless you speak it at home...but heck even if she gets a few words under her belt that will be something. And I do think it is important that she feels a connection to her heritage. Marty would argue that I don't speak a word of Gaelic. Tis true!
There is also playground near her tennis class...so she does take time off to relax on the cute little boat they have there.

Buddies
Here are Elizabeth, Kaila and Mei Mei lunching at Nordstrom's cafe. They had a great day a few weeks ago running around Fashion Island.

Here she is poised on her brand new Princess (what else would you expect?) bike. As you can see she is pretty aware of safety rules. Let's hope she follows them.
I have to say that generally she is a pretty cautious kid (gee, I wonder where she gets that) and she takes very seriously any instructions that you give her in terms of keeping safe.
Now when I am driving Elizabeth instructs me to "slow down" on a regular basis. She usually determines what speed I should be going and it is kind of amazing--the speed she tells me to drive at is usually the speed limit. She often says, "I need you to slow down because I don't want to crash." I had to get her out of the habit of screaming "stop" every she saw a stop sign.

Elizabeth, Mei Mei and Kayla just goofing around over at Fashion Island. Why is it that when you are with your buddies, just doing nothing can be so much fun.

The last week has found us home with Elizabeth sick with a nasty little virus--more about that and other things later. The one upside to this week is that I have been able to go through hundreds of photos and videos and may actually attempt to really update Elizabeth's blog.
I realize that there is so much that has gone on in the last year that I really have not chronicled.
Here is a video that says it was taken in May of this year, but she seems soooo much younger that I feel as if it has to be at least a year old-but maybe not.

E and E at the BBC
A couple of weeks ago Elizabeth talked her buddy Emma into joining her at one of Elizabeth's favorite places, The Balboa Bay Club. Did Emma like it? Take a look at the photos and you can pretty much figure it out.

Joanne and Elizabeth
A couple of weeks ago Elizabeth had a wonderful "tea cup" lunch with Aunt Joanne over at Fashion Island. She also managed to talk Aunt Joanne into a nice BIG lollipop.
