The Pink Car

A week or so ago we headed to Mission Viejo mall with Elizabeth and her buddy Kaila and they had a lot of fun playing in the pink Volkswagen. Elizabeth is very clear that this IS the car she wants. Luckily we have about 14 years before we have to even consider that purchase!!!

As another sign of the economic times, here are Elizabeth and Kaila playing "car" in an empty spot of the now closed Saks Fifth Avenue.

Elizabeth and Kaila

Here they are in their matching dresses, these two bosom buddies. These two have such a fun time when they get together.

It was so cute yesterday, Elizabeth was chanting, "I don't want to go home!" when we had to leave. It doesn't seem like much of a statement to most parents of an amost 4 year old, but considering how she wasn't saying much of anything a year ago, it's music to my ears whenever she says anything.

You also see them at Whole Foods market "sharing" the kiddie grocery cart. These two play so well together and always manage to work out an equitable share of the "goods" when they have to.

Dancing at School

Here are some photos of Elizabeth in her dancing class at school. She is in the front of the line with the gorgeous pink tutu....thanks Auntie Holly. She is the star of the show in that tutu!

Oh and it is the cutest thing. Ever since Holly, Becky and Zach came to visit us, Elizabeth has decided that she is Becky, I am Holly and Marty is Zachary. (Yeah, we will have to see Bruce soon so Marty can have an age appropriate alter ego!--not to mention it has been too long since seeing Bruce!). When she wakes up in the morning and calls for me, she doesn't say, "mommy or mom" nope. She calls "Holly!!!!". She has even been introducing herself to people as Becky and yells at me when I call Marty "Marty". She corrects me and says, "no, he is ZACH!".

Snow White Meets Toy Story

Okay, so the cat is out of the bag. You now know what Elizabeth is going to be for Halloween--and every day between now and then. Since getting her costume she has worn it all day and even sleeps with it displayed on a chair in her room--positioned in such a way that she can be sure to see it when she awakens.

Snow White meets Toy Story

So...Elizabeth decided that Marty would be "Woody" from Toy Story this Halloween, so here she is with Marty who is donning "official" Woody hat.

Maria (Mei Mei) is Four!

Yesterday Elizabeth went to her first Hula Dance party to celebrate Mei Mei's Fourth birthday! Woo hoo! Who would believe it.

Elizabeth met Maria at her first FCC party in December of 2007! Elizabeth was only home for 2 weeks when Marty and I were brave enough to leave the house and go to a party. I remember still be somewhat in a daze from our whole trip home from China and suddenly becoming a mom at 47.

I remember Mei Mei who was just a baby then too, and her Patty at the table next to us. In some ways it seems so long ago and in other ways it seems like yesterday.

How great to see them turning into little girls...and having so much fun together--as you can see from the photos.

The Hula party was a blast and Elizabeth came home and Hula danced up the stairs to bed last night.

A few more photos...from a couple of weeks ago

I haven't posted these photos which I should have done a couple of weeks ago..here they are...

A couple of photos of Elizabeth with Holly and her two beautiful kids. Yeah, her kids--they are now 16 and 17. I remember the days that each of them were born. Hard to believe 17 years have passed.

Here she is with Kaila, hanging out at the Nordstrom's shoe section. Nordstrom's can bank on their profits going up when these girls get their own credit cards.

This is Elizabeth's now famous, "pink car seat", alternately referred to as her "big girl car seat". She hounded us for months for one of these and the day it arrived she was gloriously happy. In fact, I don't think I had ever seen her happier. Go figure.

Here she is with one of her older girlfriends who was also born in China, Leah is 6 years old and managed to teach Elizabeth a little of her ballet steps when we ran into them one night at dinner.

Making a grand exit in the fabulous tutu Holly bought her...
